What to Expect During Your Graduation Session

Meredith college graduate

Graduation is such an exciting milestone, whether you’re finishing high school or graduating college. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, and your session should capture all of the excitement, personality, and memories that come with it.

My graduation sessions are designed to feel relaxed, fun, and completely personalized to you. There’s no pressure to know how to pose or what to do. I’ll guide you every step of the way so your photos feel natural, confident, and genuine.

One of the best parts about graduation sessions is choosing a location that fits your personality and style. For college graduates, we can absolutely photograph your session on campus, capturing the places that became part of your story during your college years. We can also head to another nearby location afterward for additional variety in your gallery.

For high school seniors, we can choose locations that reflect your style and interests, whether that’s an urban setting, a field at golden hour, a downtown area, a garden, or somewhere meaningful to you.

Your session should feel like you.

Want something classy and timeless? Perfect. Want something fun and playful? Let’s do it. Bring your cap and gown, college jacket, sports uniform, instruments, champagne, confetti, or anything that represents this season of your life.

I always encourage graduates to bring multiple outfits for variety. Many clients choose:

  • A casual outfit

  • A dressy outfit

  • Cap and gown photos

This creates a beautiful mix of polished portraits and personality-filled images.

One thing I hear all the time after sessions is:
“That was actually so much fun.”

And that’s exactly how I want your experience to feel.

These sessions are relaxed and easygoing. We’ll walk around, laugh, celebrate your accomplishments, and create images that capture this milestone in a way that feels authentic and memorable.

Graduation only happens once, and your photos should reflect everything you worked so hard to achieve.
